About
I live in a remote community in Northwestern, British Columbia, Canada. I had Dow Corning silicone breast implants from 1990-2013.
I had intended to have my badly ruptured implants removed with no one other than my family and closest friends knowing. A conversation with my then 27-year old daughter changed my mind. Learning how many of her peers were already implanted, and that there were many more considering it, gave me pause. In the following weeks I learned, and was staggered by, just how prevalent breast augmentation has become. Young women being given breast implants as a graduation gift from their parents!
Being silent was no longer an option.
What I learned about breast implants after rupture was diagnosed makes me want to yell from the rooftops … so this is my rooftop. It is my intention to get the TRUTH ABOUT BREAST IMPLANTS out there.

Hi There
I had implants removed in Toronto and the surgeon left some of the capsule behind, my symptoms have flared up could it be due to capsule being cut and leeching silicone from what capsule was left. Do you know of any surgeons in Toronto area who will remove whole capsule. My doctor said because it was stuck to ribs it was impossible to remove without removing ribs!!!???

Hi Jackie,
Its possible that it could be related to your caps, but flares happen even when the entire capsule has been removed. Before subjecting yourself to another invasive surgery its a good idea to make sure there’s nothing else going on. Although its ideal for the entire capsule to be removed, I know a some women with a small amount of residual capsules who are doing well. Others do poorly until the residual bits of capsules are removed. A few questions .. How long ago were your implants removed? Were they smooth or textured? Are you following a detox protocol? Do you know if you have residual silicone?
Please feel free to send a request to join ‘Breast Implant Failure & Illness – Canada’, but please be sure to answer the vetting questions.
Re your doc saying s/he would have to remove your ribs .. that seems drastic unless there’s some disease process in your ribs. There are ps’ that specialize in removing even thin capsules off the ribs, but I don’t know of any in Canada.

Thank you so much for your quick reply. I had implants for 12 years, had them out in November. They were textured implants and I do not know if any residual silicone.
I have not done any sort of detox. Do you have any advice or info in a plan to follow.
Thanks again
Jackie

Did you have seroma / swelling, enlarged lymph nodes or mass? I’d really encourage you to join the group I suggested as you’ll find lots of information and support.
