Celebrate Your Breasts Project – call for models, artists and photographers

This is a call for artists, models and photographers for an upcoming show called: ‘Celebrate Your Breasts’

It will be a segment of the main show called: ‘Breast Implants: What Would It Take To Change Your Mind?’

The intention behind the show is to promote awareness, education and dialogue around the issue of ‘Breast Implants’. And, ultimately to promote self-esteem, self-love, self-acceptance and reclaiming personal power.

My goal is for the vast range of size, shape, tone, age (must be 19+ years), and ethnicity to be represented.

We’re bombarded with impossibly unrealistic photos that erode self-esteem.

This show is to celebrate women being who they are, in their own uniqueness; in all stages of life.

Real breasts include pre-childbirth & non-child-birth (women who have not had children); pregnant; post-childbirth & lactating; mid-life; crone; senior; post-mastectomy and any other stage or circumstance of life not mentioned here (excluding breast augmentation).

* It’s a celebration of each woman’s individual uniqueness and natural beauty *

Collage Component:

Models (women with natural breasts) will be asked to choose words, and/or images to express what they feel about their breasts. These will be painted on their breasts/torso. Artists will depict, or even help co-create the models’ vision. Photographers will photograph them and the images will be part of a BIG collage. The photos will be non-identifying, including only breasts/torso. This is the feature component of the Celebrate Your Breasts Project.

Non-Collage Component:

Artists will also be invited to paint or sketch models’ breasts (or full body nude, as long as its consistent with the intention of the show (Not ‘playboy-ish’ or glossed-over media styling). All of the models must have natural breasts. The pieces must allow models anonymity. The objective is celebrating women in a way that promotes healthy imaging. Fabric Art, Ceramic Art, Body Casting, or other mediums, including written pieces, are also welcomed.

This project was borne out of the revelation of how prevalent breast augmentation has become and the realization that breast implants can have serious, irreversible consequences. We live in a culture where the message is that we are never enough. Women are bombarded with media imaging, all digitally manipulated and contrived to give us the message that unless we look like that we fall short.

The messaging feeds into the wounds of our youth that we’ve internalized. We then ‘evidence as truth’ every image and message that suggests there is a standard of beauty that we will *never* hold up to. We live our lives self-rejecting.

What I’ve learned since discovering my implants were ruptured both angers me and breaks my heart.

I’ve seen many ‘before’ explant and ‘after’ explant photos and I can say with full honesty that ALL of the implanted breasts look fake and not one looks better then the ‘after’ natural breast. Hands-down no contest! I’d see photos of explanted women and think, ‘oh, sweetie, you didn’t like those breasts!’ I realized that it’s not really about what we look like on the outside, it’s all about what we believe about ourselves on the inside.

Bigger is not better when it’s because a woman has implanted a toxic plastic bag that from the moment of implant has already irreparably altered her chest wall internally and her body will immediately and continually work to reject as long as it’s inside her.

For a time in the 1990’s breast implants were banned. In 2006 the FDA/Health Canada conditionally approved silicone breast implants, with one condition being that a 10-yr follow-up study be done. This means that EVERY SINGLE WOMAN who is implanted between 2006 – 2016 is a GUINEA PIG! They are being implanted with devices they’re led to believe are ‘safe’, when in fact they’re part of a study to determine IF breast implants are ‘safe’.

I’ve met implanted women globally, most of whom have become ill from their implants. It’s such a senseless way to lose one’s health.

It all seems so insane to me! I thought, ‘What if we just loved ourselves? What if we celebrated our breasts instead of rejecting them?’ How would THAT change our lives and our world!

It is my wish that this project will inspire women globally. When we reject ourselves we cannot possible be in our power. Think of what women can do once we individually and collectively reclaim our personal power and self-worth!
