Women with breast implants can look ok from the exterior, but inside their chest wall ‘out of sight, out of mind’ it’s another story. It can look pretty gnarly in there.
These explanted ruptured breast implants look bad enough visually, but the destruction within this woman’s chest wall would be a sobering sight! Especially after 25 years.
Common issues include calcification, acute inflammation, necrotized tissue, capsular contracture, nerve damage, milk duct destruction, infection (bacterial/viral/fungal), bio-films, seromas, granulomas, silicone soaked tissue and/or lymph nodes.
When you see someone with breast implants I hope you will ‘see with awareness’ and have an understanding of what’s potentially happening inside.
