    • Don’t count on your doctor to know your implants are making you ill

Posted at 6:18 am by motherima, on April 12, 2014

      FYI:

If you have breast implants don’t count on your doctor … even specialists … to have a clue about the signs & symptoms of rupture, or for them to demonstrate due diligence on your behalf. Sadly, too many don’t. My goal is to help educate doctors and front line workers in the medical field. Too many women globally are falling through the cracks and becoming ill from their breast implants. Too many are told their symptoms are ‘in their heads’.

My goal is also to educate implanted women so they will be aware when something has gone wrong with their implants. Until my rupture was diagnosed I was clueless about breast implants and signs of rupture! Most women with undiagnosed ruptured implants have no idea its their implants that are making them ill, but even worse their doctors don’t realize it either.

    • Changing Sales Pitch

Posted at 5:46 am by motherima, on April 12, 2014

In marketing they advertise products, often spinning them as something that will make you more beautiful; happier; more desirable; sexier; and younger looking.

Then as a competitor product hits the market, or sales slump and design flaws become evident, original products are tweaked and an updated sales pitch hails the revamped product as ‘new & improved.’ Better than the previous version and better than the competitor.

Their goal is to convince you that you simply can’t live without their product because there’s something lacking in you if you don’t have it. They make you believe if you don’t fit the media’s representation of what people, especially women, should look like you fall short.

Breast implants have sales pitches also.

You may have guessed where I’m going with this …

Breast implants in the 50’s, 60’s, & 70’s had pretty big problems, though women were told they were safe.

Though there was no real public admission of problems, behind the scenes they knew all too well that the devices were failing, so they tweaked the implants and changed the sales pitch.

There has been a long history of problems in the breast implant industry. Decades of device failure, revamped implant models, and new sales pitches … and we’ve bought it all. Hook, line, and sinker. Through the 80’s, 90’s and 2000’s it’s been the same scenario playing out.

The ‘new’ allegedly ‘safe’ implants are actually based on the same 60-70 year old technology as the ‘old’ implants, but some features and the sales pitches have been tweaked.

The breast implants I got in the early 90’s were touted as the ‘latest and greatest’.

      _____________________________________________________________________________________________________

Actual catalogue sales pitch for the implants I had:

The SILASTIC II Mammary Implant. High Performance, in a direct comparison with current competitive ‘low bleed’ products. Superior Low Bleed characteristics and Greatly Enhanced Physical Properties.

Independent testing to be the Superior Implant in the marketplace today! SILASTIC II Mammary Implant, High Performance, represents years of research by Dow Corning, the recognized leader in silicone technology, to produce a ‘State of the Art’ mammary implant. The SILASTIC II Mammary Implant, High Performance, is the best product to meet today’s needs!

      * Superior Low Bleed Characteristics

      * Greatly Enhanced Physical Properties

      * Available only from Dow Corning Wright

      * High Performance Medical Grade Silicone Elastomer is available only from Dow Corning Wright.

      _________________________________________________________________________________________________________

      THE REALITY:

SILASTIC II implants became the object of an international recall on September 13, 1991. In a class action lawsuit it was revealed that Dow Corning had falsified key fabrication data concerning these implants.

      _________________________________________________________________

Key players in Dow Corning breast implant manufacturing who purposely concealed damning information about their breast implants went on to start new companies that manufacture breast implants. So there is still a very dangerous thread from the early days to current!

      Changing Sales Pitch PIP rs

Fast forward to 2017 and we see that there is a new sales pitch for the ‘Ideal Implant’. A breast implant touted as the most ideal implant ever. The best of both worlds – the feel of silicone with the safety of saline.

Of course this ‘ideal’ implant was developed because of the failures of the ‘safe new ones that won’t rupture’. I’d laugh if so many millions more women didn’t stand to lose their health from these also.

Multiple baffles are touted as a major selling feature, but in reality it’s just more compartments for mold and bacteria to grow. More ways for women to be used as human guinea pigs. More ways for manufacturers, regulating bodies and doctors to get rich as women become ill.

Silicone breast implants are not safe. Saline breast implants are not safe. PERIOD.

Please don’t fall for this new sales pitch! It all part of the continuing experiment using women as the lab rats.

    • Chain Reaction

Posted at 5:04 am by motherima, on April 12, 2014

      FYI:

I read an article from The Huffington Post stating ‘Kaley Cuoco’ says getting breast implants in 2004 was ‘the best decision of her life’.

      2004-2014

After ten years she might be loving what she sees on the outside, but her chest wall no doubt isn’t doing so great by now! Women who haven’t yet developed complications telling other women how wonderful breast implants are is part of what’s feeding the current trend … (NOT blaming anyone for saying they love their implants because they just don’t know yet what lies ahead … just saying that this unfortunately is part of what’s feeding the trend).

There’s a chain effect happening. THIS in a nutshell is why I’m speaking out – women just have no clue what can lie ahead – what they’re loving in the moment just might come with a price way higher than they’d have agreed to pay IF THEY’D KNOWN THE TRUTH OF BREAST IMPLANTS.

    • Disconnect around breast implants

Posted at 4:55 am by motherima, on April 12, 2014

      FYI:

DISCONNECT AROUND BREAST IMPLANTS … often women with implants are health & fitness conscious, but have toxic devices within.

So many women have breast implants yet strive for ultimate health & fitness. Many are even fitness and yoga instructors, athletes and health care professionals. Health conscious women implanting toxic devices while reading labels to make sure they’re not eating anything that isn’t organic. Breast implants are within 2 – 3 cm of vital organs

Implanting devices containing toxic chemicals in very close proximity to vital organs, especially where there can be ‘gel bleed’ or rupture is just a bad plan PERIOD. Breast implants begin to compromise your health and immune system from the moment of implantation. They are quite contraindicated for ultimate health, or even sustained health.                                                                                                                                                                    670 resized

    • Some clarification regarding my ‘BEFORE’ Photo Shoot picture

Posted at 3:32 pm by motherima, on April 10, 2014

The word GREED in my ‘BEFORE Photo Shoot Story’ photo made my eldest daughter worry women with implants (or who had once been implanted) would think it expressed women with implants were greedy. (NO!!!!) My youngest daughter was also confused by it, unsure what it meant.

MY intention was to reflect the greed of some breast implant manufacturers … the breast implant industry is a billions dollar industry, making money off devices that are making too many women ill.

Dow Corning made a batch of defective breast implants (the ones I unknowingly had), but instead of tossing them and absorbing the loss themselves they ‘re-baked’ them to make them appear ok, knowing they were NOT OK … and sold them to be implanted in unsuspecting women. The implants had a near 100% failure rate at 5-6 years.

P.I.P. breast implants contained industrial grade silicone intended for use in computers and other technological devices; they also contained mattress filler.

What other than GREED would lead manufacturers to such diabolical measures!

I figured if my daughters were confused that many others would be also so I just want to qualify my intention in choosing that word.

I want to also qualify that the words painted on my body were chosen to express what *I* felt/feel. I do not in any way want to impose my words/feelings on anyone else. Each woman will have their own words/feelings/experiences. I can only reflect what I was personally feeling/feel.

    • CELEBRATE YOUR BREASTS PROJECT

Posted at 3:56 pm by motherima, on April 9, 2014

This project was borne out of the revelation of how prevalent breast augmentation has become and the realization that breast implants can have serious, irreversible consequences. We live in a culture where the message is that we are never enough. Women are bombarded with media imaging, all digitally manipulated and contrived to give us the message that unless we look like that we fall short.

The messaging feeds into the wounds of our youth that we’ve internalized. We then ‘evidence as truth’ every image and message that suggests there is a standard of beauty that we will *never* hold up to. We live our lives self-rejecting.

What I’ve learned since discovering my implants were ruptured both angers me and breaks my heart.

I’ve seen many ‘before’ explant and ‘after’ explant photos and I can say with full honesty that ALL of the implanted breasts look fake and not one looks better then the ‘after’ natural breast. Hands-down no contest! I’d see photos of explanted women and think, ‘oh, sweetie, you didn’t like those breasts!’ I realized that it’s not really about what we look like on the outside, it’s all about what we believe about ourselves on the inside.

Bigger is not better when it’s because a woman has implanted a toxic plastic bag that from the moment of implant has already irreparably altered her chest wall internally and her body will immediately and continually work to reject as long as it’s inside her.

For a time in the 1990’s breast implants were banned. In 2006 the FDA/Health Canada conditionally approved silicone breast implants, with one condition being that a 10-yr follow-up study be done. This means that EVERY SINGLE WOMAN who is implanted between 2006 – 2016 is a GUINEA PIG! They are being implanted with devices they’re led to believe are ‘safe’, when in fact they’re part of a study to determine IF breast implants are ‘safe’.

I’ve met implanted women globally, most of whom have become ill from their implants. It’s such a senseless way to lose one’s health.

It all seems so insane to me! I thought, ‘What if we just loved ourselves? What if we celebrated our breasts instead of rejecting them?’ How would THAT change our lives and our world!

It is my wish that this project will inspire women globally. When we reject ourselves we cannot possible be in our power. Think of what women can do once we individually and collectively reclaim our personal power and self-worth!

If you would like to join my project please contact me for more information! Please CELEBRATE YOUR BREASTS!

    • ‘BEFORE’ Photo Shoot Story

Posted at 9:04 pm by motherima, on April 8, 2014

By the time we were setting up the photo shoot my health was failing; by the day of the photo shoot I was feeling really ill. It was a steady spiral past that point.

The day of the photo shoot I wanted to cancel. Not because of how ill I felt, but because I felt completely vulnerable and unsure I could expose my breasts even in the name of a great cause. It’s one thing to be doing topless photos when you feel good about yourself, but when your photos are depicting ‘this is what it can look like when things go really wrong!’ it’s another matter. The only reason I didn’t chicken out was because I knew that my project would push some people out of their comfort zone so I needed to be willing to be pushed out of mine also. When my ‘Celebrate Your Breasts’ ladies are painted and photographed I’ll know what many will be feeling!

For a year prior to explant I hadn’t been able to exercise at all because of a medical condition so I was completely out of shape. The thought of being so ‘out there’ and exposed in a public venue was terrifying. Especially, exposing my implanted breasts which had become hard and misshapen from capsular contracture. I had to dig down deep and remind myself of why I was doing it.

The message in this project is not just about getting the truth of breast implants out, its bottom line message is one of self-esteem and self-love. I hope to inspire women to love and accept themselves. To help them reconnect to, and reclaim their personal power, which can only truly be manifest if we love ourselves (and each other).

My heartfelt thanks to my team: Amanda Hugon (artist); Angie Healey (photographer), and Tym (make-up artist)
